HOW WE DO IT

OUR METHODOLOGY
At VoA Consulting, we have developed substantial expertise in asking the right questions of leaders and other organizational members, to first help them clarify what they want and then to identify what is in the way of them having that.

We help them find the points of maximum impact by distinguishing between energy-sapping symptoms and root causes/problems. We assist them in recognizing how energy has become dispersed, and learning how to focus it towards the accomplishment of individual and organizational goals.

We work respectfully and in partnership with our clients, collaboratively developing strategies to most effectively and directly facilitate desired outcomes. We share skills, tools, and perspectives that have an immediate and powerful impact.

Finally, we are very aware that a common criticism of organizational consulting is that its positive effects are generally not long lasting. We view evaluation, action planning and follow up as integral to the services we provide, such as ensuring that needed structures are in place to maintain positive momentum.

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

  • Trust is central to our ability to work together productively with our clients.
  • The ability to draw on expertise and wisdom by stepping back and asking the right questions.
  • Aligning organizational culture in a way that maximizes productivity and effectiveness, by efficient use of resources.
  • A focus on employee satisfaction that’s integrated into bottom-line results.
  • An understanding that leadership/executive development needs to start with results and the competencies needed for success on the job.
  • Training by itself is ineffective unless it is directly linked to performance on the job.
  • That it is critical for managers to understand that they can be effective coaches without sacrificing commitment to bottom-line results.
  • It is imperative for individuals and teams within organizations to learn to communicate in ways that reflect taking healthy responsibility for organizational results.
  • Organizational cultures need to increase their flexibility, agility, and responsiveness to change.
  • Our background is in understanding the functioning of both organizations and the people within them.
  • Authenticity, integrity and credibility are crucial leadership qualities.
  • Great consulting must go beyond the flavor-of-the-month bandwagon (and assist the client in going beyond the flavor-of-the-month).
  • Listening and communicating are arts that require more than cursory courses.
  • It is an art to have a company’s expressed mission, vision, and values come alive.
  • Creativity and innovation are vital in today’s fast-paced and volatile business climate.
  • Quality consulting, and any effective initiative, requires consistent evaluation and re-focusing.
